Titan Tapes Help

Applying Adhesive Tapes correctly is not easy! we hope this helps....

Titan Tapes™ Adhesive Tape Application Guide

Applying Double Sided Tapes (Single sided follows the sames rules)

Application to Primary Substrate

Unwind the adhesive tape and apply the exposed side to the substrate that will be bonded, ensure absolutely nothing touches this exposed side including fingers! Applying this exposed side should be done using a squeeze roller or other method which ensures firm pressure and intimate contact of the tape to the substrate

Application to Secondary Substrate

Peel off the protective release liner and apply the tacky side to the desired surface using firm pressure by hand or roller

Additional Information

• When applying pressure sensitive adhesive tape to any surface, be sure that the surface is free from oil or other surface contaminates such as powder, dust or release agent

• Tools and hands must be clean and free of solvents

• An industry standard has been to allow at least 60 square centimetres of adhesive tape for every kilogram of weight. Avoid subjecting tape to permanent stress

• If possible, adhesive tapes should be run horizontally accross the substrate to provide greater resistance to peel and shear forces

• Apply the adhesive tape in a clean, dry area at a temperature between 20 and 30 deg.C If possible avoid temperatures under 10deg.C

• Natural and synthetic rubber adhesives usually have high initial tack, but have limited resistance to temperature, humidity, solvents or ultra violet light

• Acrylic and silicone adhesives generally have a good to excellent resistance to high and low temperatures, humidity, most solvents and ultra violet light and are most suitable for permanent bonding, and in exterior applications

• Maximum strength will be reached after a dwell period of 72 hours

• Check for good, even contact between mating surfaces. Double sided foam tape, jelly tape and toffee tape allow for iregular surfaces and provide some shock absorbtion

• Although tapes will adhere to most surfaces, certain plastics and painted surfaces may present problems. Some adhesives react with different substrates and can cause surface discolouration, plasticiser migration and weaken the bond

• As you can hopefully understand from reading this it is impossible for us to say to you "Yes it will do the job" in fact we do not ever say these words as a company due to the above!

• However! We do now sell all our adhesive tapes in single rolls, allowing you to purchase just one roll to test and not forcing you to buy a full carton. We will also happily send you approx six inches in length of our adhesive tapes for you to test free of charge

We hope this helps, for further information please give us a call on 01268 768 768
